External Users versus JSE Internal Users

IRS is available to all JSE Listings staff, as well as to specific external JSE customers.

External Users

External users are individuals who are not employed by the JSE. These users will submit certain documents or pieces of information for review and processing by the JSE. External users can submit information on behalf of other organisations or for organisations at which they are employed.

  1. Warrant Issuer -  A Warrant Issuer is an entity with warrants listed on the JSE. A Warrant Issuer can only create announcements for their own company.

  2. Equity Issuer - An Equity Issuer is a company with ordinary shares or preference shares listed on the JSE. Equity Issuers can only create tokens. They cannot create SENS announcements. Each Equity Issuer will have a 'sponsor' who will submit SENS Announcements on their behalf. The 'sponsor' will ensure that the SENS Announcement complies with the JSE Listings Requirements.

  3. Interest Rate Issuer - An Interest Rate Issuer is an issuer of debt instruments listed on the Interest Rate market of the JSE. A Interest Rate Issuer can only create announcement for their own company.

  4. ETF Issuer – An ETF Issuer is an entity with Electronic Trading Funds listed on the JSE. An EFT Issuer can only create announcement for their own company.

  5. Sponsor – A Sponsor is an entity approved in terms of the JSE Listings Requirements and is acting on behalf of the Equity Issuers, ETF Issuers, or Warrant Issuers. A Sponsor can make announcements for any company with an 'Issuer Role' - not just the company they work for. A JSE Sponsor can also submit SENS announcements on behalf of Namibian Equity Issuers, subject to them obtaining a Token from the NSX.

  6. Designated Advisor – A Designated Advisor (DA) is an entity approved in terms of the JSE Listings Requirements and acts on behalf of Equity Issuers. A Designated Advisor can make announcements for any company with the 'Equity Issuer Role' - not just the company they work for.

  7. Debt Sponsor – A Debt Sponsor is an entity that has been approved in terms of Section 2 of the Debt Listings Requirements who has the authority to advise Debt Issuers and Interest Rate Issuers on the application of the Debt Listings Requirements. A Debt Sponsor can make announcements for any company with an 'Issuer Role' - not just the company they work for.

  8. Debt Issuer – A Debt Issuer is an Issuer of debt instruments listed on the Main board of the JSE. A Debt Issuer can only create announcement for their own company.

  9. Regulatory Body – The Regulatory Body pertains to entities that will submit announcements in their Regulatory capacity, for example, the Competition Commission and the Financial Services Board.

  10. SENS Submitter – A SENS Submitter is an entity that will submit SENS announcements for an Exchange other than the JSE. A SENS Submitter does not fall under any of the other roles.

JSE Internal Users

Internal Users are JSE staff responsible for a myriad of functions within IRS. Certain of the functions include receiving and processing information submitted by external users.
